Traits of a Successful Real Estate Agent

There are certain traits that help agents be successful, but they may not necessarily be what you are expecting. For example, you do not need to be an extrovert. There are plenty of introverts and extroverts who have successful real estate careers. The necessary traits consist of being a self-starter, being self-disciplined, and having courage and moral fortitude.

Take a 10 minute personality quiz that may help you determine if Real Estate is a good career path for you.

How Do I Get Started?

The first step to becoming a Real Estate agent is obtaining your real estate license. This is a three-step process in North Dakota for a new agent.

  1. Pass a 45-hour North Dakota approved pre-licensure course (online or live).
  2. Submit an application to the North Dakota Real Estate Commission which includes a background and credit check.
  3. Take and pass the National and State Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) Exam.
  4. After passing the AMP, join a real estate brokerage for your license to be issued. In the state of North Dakota, you must work under a broker for a minimum of two years prior to attaining your Broker’s license.

Choosing the Right Brokerage

I chose Century 21 Morrison to start my career in real estate because I knew from the moment I walked through these doors I would have the support and the tools to represent my clients to the fullest. We have a non-competing broker who’s main goal is to have each of us agents thrive, not just professionally but personally as well. We have office staff that is incredibly knowledgeable and keep this office running smoothly. We have experienced, intelligent agents that are supportive and are willing to contribute to your success. Working for the most recognized brand in real estate is something to be proud of, but working for Century 21 Morrison is a true honor.

During the licensure process, you will learn the basic concepts and background wrequired of all real estate agents. However, that knowledge does not necessarily prepare you for a successful career in real estate. It is crucial for you to join a real estate brokerage that will equip you with the tools, systems, training, and culture for your success. Make an informed decision and interview different brokerages so you start out on the right path.

There are so many questions to ask when interviewing brokerages. Large or small? Franchised or independent? Non-Competing Broker or Competing Broker? Full Service or Limited Service? Core values and culture? Technology, tools and systems focused on your success? Training programs and mentorships? Residential vs Commercial Real Estate? Per person productivity numbers? Brokerage goals and future plans?

Value Added Benefits

“You get what you pay for.” This old adage is certainly true when it comes to choosing a quality brokerage. CENTURY 21 Morrison Realty chooses again and again to associate with a Brand that can supply all the tools and systems needed in today’s fast-paced industry. As part of the CENTURY 21 System, you will have access to tools, technology, systems, training, lead-generation, and much more through a Brand who helps you grow your business.

If you join a non-franchise firm, the same benefits would cost you thousands of dollars a year which is more than you will ever pay with a transactional franchise fee. Work smarter, not harder, and jump start your business. Just like your clients, you should expect quality service and and opportunity for success. Choose a Brand that can give you both.

The education and support I received prior to obtaining my license, plus the ongoing training and tools we have in our office and available to us through the C21 System, are invaluable. Having a non-competing broker available, along with an office staff that is helpful and knowledgeable, is important to me. C21 Morrison invests in their agents to ensure the best service to our clients and gives back to our community and state.

Support, Training, Coaching and Mentorship

Century 21 Morrison was the best choice for me. I interviewed several brokers. I chose C21 MR because their mission and principles matched mine. I’ve received excellent training and support and I love my mentors! Working in a larger agency, I know I can always get answers to my questions. Plus, because my broker doesn’t compete for real estate business, I know they have my best interests.
