Traits of a Successful Real Estate Agent

There are certain traits that help agents be successful, but they may not necessarily be what you are expecting. For example, you do not need to be an extrovert. There are plenty of introverts and extroverts who have successful real estate careers. The necessary traits consist of being a self-starter, being self-disciplined, and having courage and moral fortitude.

How Do I Get Started?

The first step to becoming a Real Estate agent is obtaining your real estate license. This is a three-step process in North Dakota for a new agent.

  1. Pass a 45-hour North Dakota approved pre-licensure course (online or live).
  2. Submit an application to the North Dakota Real Estate Commission which includes a background and credit check.
  3. Take and pass the National and State Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) Exam.
  4. After passing the AMP, join a real estate brokerage for your license to be issued. In the state of North Dakota, you must work under a broker for a minimum of two years prior to attaining your Broker’s license.
